Vortex > work meeting
What’s a man to do? I have 14 minutes until my first meeting and am being harrassed by a portly American to shit out a review. So here it is. As a young(er) man I was pretty obsessed with shredding. I would wander down to the local record shop, trying to avoid the groovy post-thrash police, to see if Vin and the lads were hanging out the front whistling and gyrating at the hot babes walking by.

At least we have some variety with this project
The previous albums on this project have led me to the conclusion that there’s (probably) no such thing as music that’s actually interesting. This fact appears to be doubly true for the year of my birth, Anno Domini 1995. With that in mind, I’ve gone for a slightly different strategy and chosen an album which hopefully makes up in interesting context what it lacks in interesting content: Dreaming of You, the fifth and final album by Mexican-American singer Selena.

There's a unicorn in my Vortex
It’s quite easy to pick a bunch of really intense, popular, progressive, or otherwise important albums in 1977, some of which are no doubt well known amongst the Vortex. But another aspect of music is its ability to uniquely soundtrack our lives, which of course is the reason that it holds a unique power to bring up nostalgia over basically all of the other arts, but also to give us association with powerful memories or feelings even outside of nostalgia per se.

Load me a demon lung
What was supposed to be a weekly column of timely reports on current events has become a sporadic smattering of recollections of bygone days with month-long latency. Silver linings on dark clouds be what they are, there is freedom in failure, and an infinity of gestation awaits in the wake of a missed deadline. Perhaps this ephemeragraphy grows greater in import with increased temporal distance. Or perhaps the limits of a dimension are constant, no matter your relation.
